The club is an active member of the Oxford and District Chess Association and enters

two teams in the League, the first team in Division 2 and the second team in Division 3.

The club plays its home League matches on Tuesday evenings during the Autumn and Winter months.

Bicester Chess Club also runs a junior club on Wednesdays at 6.15 pm at Bure Park School.

Bicester Chess Club was founded in September 1988, 20 years after the demise

of the old Bicester Chess Club.

In its long history, the Chess Club has been host to a wide variety of members

from Bicester and the surrounding villages. The current membership contains several

nationalities and a wide range of ages.

The club provides all sets, clocks & equipment and a library of chess books is available for

members to use to help improve their game. The senior players are always ready to help

and advise, particularly for junior members.

The club fields two teams in the Oxfordshire Chess Association League which currently

comprises Chess Clubs from Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Cowley, Cumnor, Didcot,

Witney, Wantage and Oxford University. The clubs field 28 teams which are organised in

to 4 divisions. Matches consist of 6 boards. Match results from League matches as well

as from the Annual Club Championship are submitted to the English Chess Federation

for grading.
